Detailing compared to Valeting

There is often some confusion about the difference between valeting and detailing. Valeting consists of thoroughly cleaning the exterior and interior of a vehicle to remove all of the dust, dirt and grime. At Detail Your Eyecandy the vehicle is then waxed and all plastics and tyres are dressed. Valeting will leave your vehicle looking clean and shiny however it will not repair damage to the surface layer of the paintwork. This is where detailing differs.

What is detailing?

Detailing is a restoration and protection of a vehicle’s paintwork. The cleaning stage is similar to valeting but is more intense. It involves cleaning every surface possible which includes the removal of certain parts, such as alloy wheels, in order to obtain access to those otherwise unreachable areas such as suspension, arch liners and brake components. Detailing also includes a process known as 'Paint Correction'. This is a specialist technique which is carried out using a dual action machine polisher, an extensive range of professional polishes and polishing pads, and a paint depth gauge (to measure the thickness of the paintwork prior to polishing). It can take anywhere between 6-48 hours to complete. The paintwork of your vehicle can become damaged from poor washing techniques and, over time, through weathering. Swirl marks, light scratches, holograms, and embedded contaminants such as hard rain, bug splatter, and bird stains can all contribute to surface damage and leave the paintwork looking dull and jaded.

At Detail Your Eyecandy we can repair this damage to create a spectacular finish, which leaves your vehicle looking better than new, and fully protected.

Surface Protection

Our Surface Protection detail is designed to significantly improve the overall appearance and protection of your vehicle to leave a smooth and glossy finish. It is a meticulous detail where your vehicle receives a multi-stage wash and complete paintwork decontamination. Embedded contaminants such as tar and tree sap are totally removed. A pre-wax polish is then applied by machine polisher in preparation for the protection. Once this is complete a premium carnauba wax or paint sealant is applied.
